The Kavanaghs descended from Donal Caomhanach (pronounced Kavanaugh) the illegitimate heir of Dermot McMurrough, King of Leinster, who was responsible for bringing the Normans to Ireland.

This book traces the history of the Kavanaghs from 1170 A.D down to more modern times.
